Thanks for your interest in becoming a part of the SmackTalk Crew! This page has some basic guidelines and links.

What We Do:

SmackTalk is intended to be, above all else, fun. We work hard, we play hard, and we have a good time. We made this site to help the SmackJeeves community, as well as to amuse ourselves and you. While this is fun, it's also a commitment, and we honor that commitment. We talk to each other, (perhaps a bit too much), and make sure everyone is on the same page. If one of us has questions, someone else has answers. If no one has an answer, we work together to come up with one.

What We Don't Do:

We don't turn a fun group project into a vehicle for drama. We don't tolerate drama from each other, and we won't tolerate it from you. We don't wait until the last minute to tell an editor we can't make a deadline. We don't tolerate hate.

Basic Rules:

  1. Your editor is your friend. If you're writing reviews or interviews, your editor is Joe. If you're writing an article or a feature, your editor is Cutething.
  2. The editors will not rewrite your article for you. Make sure it's as close to publication as you can make it before sending it in. This means SPELL CHECK and read through your work for technical errors! An editor will cut inappropriate or excess content, do some basic revisions, and/or ask you to.
  3. Every article / review / interview / etc. may not be published.
  4. Familiarize yourself with the guidelines for the specific project you are working on, be it reviewing, interviewing, article writing, or contributing cover art.
  5. Have fun, and make SURE you fill out and submit the application at the bottom of this page.

Application:

  1. Respond to THIS THREAD. If your email address is not publically listed in your SJ profile, please find some way to include it in your application as well.
  2. Answer the following questions:
Name & Handle: If you have a different one on Smackjeeves than you have here... please don't be daft. Include it.
Age: This is optional, however, ST has a minimum age requirement of at least 15 years. You can still apply if you are younger, but be warned that your writing sample will have to be very impressive to convince us.
Commitment Level: What are you able to contribute to this project? Dates, hours per week, etc.
Desired Position: What are you interested in doing for SmackTalk?
Previous Experience: Have you done anything like this before? If so, what?
  3. Spam, off-topic comments, and other posts that do not contain the above questions (and your answers) WILL be deleted. If you have any questions regarding this post, please send a private message to Cutething or Joe.
