Bullisoan Dies at Age 16; Forum Mourns Loss
On May 14th, 2007 the SmackJeeves forumer known as "Bullisoan" died from Leukemia. Though not many knew him, all of his comments on the site were supportive and kind.

"I did not know him, still it is sad. He was so awfully young. Those are the times we notice that all those persons in forums, blogs and chats are real people also, with their personal battles and tragedies. I wish the best to his family and those who were close to him. He'll always be in your hearts." - Schorhr

"He must have been fighting it so hard. It must be so hard for his parents and friends to go through with a death in the family. I know exactly how they feel. And he was so young. I'm getting very empathetic. And I didn't even know him! But he seemed like a really sweet guy! RIP Bullisoan" - Catqueen13

Trebor no longer an Admin; Disappears into the Internet Wilderness
After an elaborate April Fool's Joke, in which he "banned" everyone on the forum for censor bypassing, Trebor resigned from his Administrative duties, and ran off into the wilderness.

"He took off all of his clothes, made strange noises... sort of like a cow being strangled, and covered himself with mud. It was weird... kind of scary." - Cutething, Forum Administrator
Augest changes her name to Ran; Gets Married!
Augest, long-time moderator, forum member, and columnist for SmackTalk is changing her name. Dan reduced the character limit for names, and Augest finally switched her username to Ran. In a completely unrelated series of events, she will be getting married to TheFiend. Everyone at SmackTalk wishes them both the best on their happy day.
Cutething Comes out of Retirement; Deletes Spamalot
Announcing that she was deeply dissatisfied with the majority of the forum members on SmackJeeves, Cutething quit her position as an administrator. Shortly thereafter, she came out of "retirement" with a brand new set of rules.

No longer will forum members have endless second, third, and fifteenth chances, but instead, they will be subject to a new system. According to the rules she laid out, forum members will be given friendly reminders of the rules, followed by a single warning. After the warning, additional infractions will be met with a temporary ban, followed by a permanent ban.

"I wholeheartedly agree with these rules." Said Ness, a popular and attractive young forum member, as well as SmackTalk Editor.

"You know what I like? Proactivity. And Cutething - and by that I really mean good mods in general - is proactive. This could really work, or it might miserably fail, but I really appreciate the effort. Innovation for the proverbial victory." Said Staniel, an intelligent, if reclusive forumer.

In her first act after returning to her position, she locked Spamalot. The forum was subsequently deleted soon after.

"Thank goodness. Things were getting a little squirrely." - Quotemaster
Almost Anything Goes Forum Created for Users with 175 or more posts
In a popular move, Cutething created a private forum (Almost Anything Goes, or AAG) specifically for people who had not gotten anything worse than a warning, and had an excess of 175 posts. The forum is accessible by request only for those who meet the previously stated criteria.

The new forum seems to have taken off quite well; it hasn't detracted from the rest of the forum, but it is a nice place for more experienced Smackers to relax a bit.

"I'll admit to being skeptical about this new group, but I am a fan of the rationale behind creating it. It's like a chill room for people who behave themselves. If you can't beat 'em, lock the door and ignore 'em." - Gibson Twist

"Cutething is a shining beacon of all that is good and beautiful in civilised humanity in the sea of horrors that is this forum." - Eggie

"Thanks for inviting me to this AAG forum, even though I'm not a memorable person!" - CORY

Blingmobile Dead? Or Elaborate Hoax?
An elaborate trail starts at a link in his signature and ends at a page that simply says: "no one can save me." Beloved forum member Ethan, also known as Blingmobile, has seemingly disappeared from the boards. Some speculate that the link trail is a clue to his disappearance.

"Perhaps he was murdered, and not unlike Patrick Swayze in 'Ghost,' he attempted to contact the living world, but the only person who could hear him was a mute web designer, who now is attempting to build a chain of websites to lead us to the murderer. " - Thunderstrike

"He didn't quite master the suspension of disbelief but he sure as hell got the subtlety and delivery down. How big of geeks/retards are we that we're sitting around stalking a fellow forum user?" - AFStaff

SmackTalk Editor in Chief Hires New Team
SmackTalk has gone through many changes, but this is perhaps the largest one of all. In an unexpected move, Cutething, The Editor in Chief of the SmackTalk, hires five new editors; Nat, the 'zine's Managing Editor; Minaa, the new Review Editor replacing Joe when he retires; Ness, the Editorial Page Editor; Paragoned, the new Interview Editor; Ikebana, the Graphics Editor.

While the entire forum waits with baited breath to see the new turnout, strange lights have been seen and sounds heard from within the SmackTalk Staff and Editor lounges.

"I don't know what's going on, but the Staff Page just got updated, and I found this interesting picture on Cutething's Flickr page." an Smacker, who wishes to remain anonymous told us. "Additionally, I think they're making some sort of weapon. A weapon... that could destroy us all!"
