I know one of my problems is that people who know my work, only know the comedy, but I'm trying to find an artist who wants to do my dramatic comic, and no one seems to be biting, what can I do to find an artist, how do I attract one? I'm currently working on a project that will establish me in a dramatic sense, sort of change people's views of my writing ability; do you think this will help at all? - Silly Bob Dear Silly Bob,
I wish I knew what you were talking about. The best I can figure, you’re trying to attract an artist by trying a new genre. Really, the genre isn’t important so much as your skill as a writer, your willingness to compromise and your ability to work well with others. Artists are the toughest to attract, because everyone calls themselves a writer these days. It will be critical that you demonstrate you’re a good writer, and an even better partner. Good luck! ~CT Dear Cutething, I just started a web comic here, and I've been adding new comics everyday. I have a lot of new strips ready to be released, but I think it may be a bad idea to release them daily. Sooner or later I'm going to run out of ideas for this comic and if I release them slower it might last longer, but I'm trying to get readers now so it feels like I should release them more frequently. Should I keep releasing them daily or slow it down? It’s all I can do now to stop myself from releasing my entire reserve of comics at once. - Lokijki Dear Lokijki,
Dear Cutething, It’s important to set a consistent schedule for yourself, as well as for your readers. Updating every other day, or five days a week is a good idea, even if you have more comics. That way, when you get busier with other work, (or the ideas slow down), you can still keep the original schedule you set. ~CT Would there any legal issue if I use characters/sprites from an existing series and put them in the universe of another series? How do you thing the reader would react? How do you think the fans of the original series will feel? - N00b Dear N00b,
It’s generally considered bad manners to take someone else’s characters without permission. It can also definitely have legal ramifications, or result in your comic being deleted. Your readers are the least of your worries. ~CT Do you have a question for Cutething? Join the forums and ask today!
